For time-sensitive tips, email is faster than post and reaches a duty editor seven days a week.
Confidential tips
If you have information you want to share with us in confidence — particularly material that could expose you to retaliation from an employer, government or other powerful actor — please do not use ordinary email. It can be intercepted or subpoenaed. Our secure tips page explains the safer options and how to start.
- Encrypted email: Write to tips@nepenthesjournal.com from an account that is not tied to your employer. See the secure tips page before sending anything sensitive.
- Signal & SecureDrop: For end-to-end-encrypted messages or document uploads over Tor, we set up a channel on request. The secure tips page describes how to ask for the current address without exposing yourself.
- Post: Anonymous physical mail, sent without a return address to the newsroom address above, remains one of the most reliable ways to share sensitive material.
We will never knowingly reveal the identity of a source who has asked for anonymity. (Nepenthes Journal is a demonstration site — see our About page — so please do not send genuinely sensitive material here.)
Corrections
If you believe we have published an error of fact, please email the newsroom with:
- the article URL,
- a brief description of what you believe to be inaccurate, and
- where possible, a source we can verify the correct information against.
We aim to respond to correction requests within one business day. Substantive corrections are appended visibly to the article with the date and a summary of what changed; minor fixes (typos, broken links) are made silently.
Press & partnerships
For media enquiries, interview requests with our editors, or partnership and syndication enquiries, please email press@nepenthesjournal.com and mark your subject line with Press or Partnership so it reaches the right desk.
We are happy to discuss content-syndication, republishing arrangements (under our standard terms), and collaborative reporting projects with other newsrooms.
Pitches from contributors
We accept freelance pitches from experienced reporters and writers across all four desks. A good pitch is short, names the story (not the topic), explains why now, and indicates who you would speak to. Please include two or three samples of published work.
Send pitches to the newsroom email with Pitch — Politics (or Science, Culture, International) in the subject line. We try to respond to every pitch, accepted or not, within two weeks.
Advertising
For advertising rate cards, available placements, and our editorial-independence policy as it applies to advertisers, please contact our commercial team via the newsroom email with Advertising in the subject line. We do not accept advertising for certain categories of product or service; the full list is available on request.
Office hours
Our newsroom is staffed 09:00–18:00 local time, Monday to Friday, with a duty editor available outside those hours for urgent matters. We are closed on national public holidays; messages sent during closures will be answered on the next working day.
